Kaypri is a proud multi-hyphenate ACTOR-WRITER-PRODUCER. After her Creative Writing teacher told her that she had a “good ear for dialogue”, she wrote her first play in middle school and has been onstage ever since. A BFA in Drama from Kamala’s alma mater later, she evolved into a popular and crowd-pleasing playwright, with her autobiographical coming of age solo play, Babygirl: MEDIA-CODEPENDA-LOVA-HOLIC. Its sequel, The Good Daughter & The Do Gooder, about her personal caregiver journey, was a New Humanitas finalist.
For her mom’s surprise 80th birthday, Kaypri gifted her with a finished copy of her autobiography, declaring “Dementia would not win!” She went on to write and produce, The Baton, an award-winning PSA on caregiving, which led to features in Upworthy and the Wall Street Journal.
Kaypri continues her mother’s racial justice work at www.dorothystory.com/allylist and her production company Priscilla Belle Productions has several projects in pre-production.
This creative renaissance woman slash artivist also works as a story doctor for all genres and is an in-demand narrator. Her pop culture-infused tales are currently being adapted for big and small screens near you. Stay tuned!
